With the country back in lockdown, we are pleased to say that HM Government has allowed places of worship to remain open in the way they have been doing these last six months. We ask all in the congregation to be extra vigilant as it is perhaps the only time some people will be able to come out until lockdown is over. In particular, please ensure that you wear a facemask in Church, sanitise your hands on entering or leaving and keep at least 2 metres away from anyone not in your household. At the end of the service, please maintain social distancing and do not linger near the exit. Thank you.
Welcome to the Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin - a Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Coventry and the See of Ebbsfleet, serving Abbey Green's people in Nuneaton. Here, in this beautiful place, we continue to worship Almighty God on the same holy ground and among the remains of the same buildings where the nuns who gave this town its name first gathered for worship nearly 900 years ago. However, though these walls are steeped in centuries of prayer and tell of great history, it is the life of the Abbey Church today that is its greatest treasure. Here you will find a thriving, loving, and growing community committed to living out and proclaiming the Good News of the Saving Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whether you are already a practising Christian, thinking of returning to Church, interested in exploring the Faith, or simply curious to discover a little more, you will always find a very warm welcome here - why not come and join us and be a part of the next chapter in the story of this wonderful church in the parish of Abbey Green.
With the country in lockdown, we appreciate you may not be able to enter the church and pray in the way you have in the past. With this in mind, we have created the next best thing. Click on the button below to visit this new space, light a candle and write a prayer.
